Madrid, January 17, 2024 – International Maritime Industries (IMI), the largest shipyard in the MENA region, with Saudi Aramco as its main partner, has chosen SATEC Arabia as the provider to manage, operate, and maintain its business applications, infrastructure, and security. The contract includes comprehensive governance of all IT and Cybersecurity services, both IT and OT, extendable for two additional years. It also involves the supply and implementation of the necessary tools for service management and operation.

SATEC Arabia has proposed a three-phase approach: the first phase involves transitioning and diagnosing IMI’s operations within the service scope, during which the Target Operating Model (TOM) will also be developed in the areas of governance, technology, and operations. The subsequent migration phase will involve transitioning IMI’s operations from its current state to the target state, adjusting tools and technologies, and stabilizing operations. Finally, the standard operation phase will involve the implementation of the proposed technologies, tools, and operational capabilities, with key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement.

As part of the contract, SATEC Arabia will implement a strategy for the progressive integration of expert profiles, with the goal of creating over 60 new local jobs for highly qualified professionals upon completion. This strategy is also aligned with the goal of ensuring a minimum percentage of Saudi personnel of 50%, thus strengthening SATEC Arabia’s commitment to local talent development and job creation in the region.

Future Perspectives

According to Luis Rodríguez Ovejero, president of Grupo SATEC, “this contract represents an important step in consolidating our presence in Saudi Arabia and another step in the Group’s strategy of internationalization and diversification into new markets. This achievement has been made possible by the trust built with the client through successful previous projects, as well as our extensive experience in providing similar services to clients in Spain. We are excited about this opportunity and committed to achieving the objectives of delivering high-quality solutions that meet the expectations and requirements of clients in this growing market.”

Grupo SATEC, together with a reputable local partner, established SATEC Arabia in 2019. A year later, in the midst of the pandemic, it began executing its first project in the region, also for IMI, aimed at defining an integrated cybersecurity governance framework for the shipyard’s IT systems.
